Tropical & Disney Inspired Nursery Design
Well, our little one is 7 months old now, and I’m almost done decorating her nursery! We got the majority of the setup done before she arrived, since as I guessed, we’ve had little time for finishing touches since.
Since I think we will get those finishes done in the next couple of weeks, I wanted to go ahead and share the inspiration board I created when coming up with the design!
A lot of the decor in our home is inspired by our recent travels (and my love affair with Hawaii) with a bit of 1950s mid-century modern thrown in since the house was built in 1959 and we’ve leaned into the structure of the house when updating & decorating wherever possible.
The nursery follows along similar lines but with a more summer-y color palate (she is a summer babe after all!) and with some Disney magic infused, because how could I not?
We decided on a teal statement wall, and I knew I wanted that cream & pink pineapple quilt from Anthropologie, so I used those colors as jumping off points to create any DIYs and source prints, etc.
I didn’t want a *completely* Disney-fied nursery but I love Mary Blair & the themes in Meet the Robinsons (which, fun fact, was released on my birthday back in 2007!) so we found more subtle ways to incorporate them. Since there is a lot of Aloha spirit in her room, we also have Lilo & Stitch represented!
I’m so excited for the nursery to be coming together, and to share the final result soon!
